Summary

On 14 June 1898 Foon Kee was granted an exemption from the Victorian 1890 Chinese Act for two years. In documentation associated with his application he states that he had resided in Victoria for six years. It seems some if not all of this time he spent in Bendigo. His application was processed through a Mr Charley Foon Chung of Allingham Street, Bendigo. Charles Howe (manager) and Richard Grenfell (Mine Manager) of Kock's Pioneer Company witness his statement suggesting he may have worked for this company.
