    Description

A copy is used in the display outside the recreated joss house in McCrossins Mill Museum. The museum label reads: 'This is a photograph of the priest who officiated in the joss house at Tingha. He is dressed in the uniform of a Manchu dynasty official. From this photograph we can tell that he is dressed as a middle ranking official. His p'u tzu (the cloth square on his chest) has an egret embroidered on it. The various grades of official could be discerned by the different animals stitched on their chest. His necklace (ch'ao chu) contains 108 stones with four larger stones being spaced at equal distance. Only officials of a certain grade could wear it.' No details are provided about the location of the original photograph.
