The full title of this collection in the Mitchell Library is: 'Holtermann Collection : photographs of goldfield towns in N.S.W. and Victoria; Sydney and Melbourne streets and buildings, 1871-1876'. The Holtermann Collection contains photographs of goldfield towns in New South Wales and Victoria; Sydney and Melbourne streets and buildings, 1871-1876. Bernard Otto Holtermann commissioned the American & Australasian Photographic Company (Beaufoy Merlin and Charles Bayliss) to document gold towns in New South Wales and Victoria from 1872 to 1875. A guide was compiled by Library Society Volunteers, 1980-1985, is available at PXD 533. This guide was used to catalog the Holtermann collection on PICMAN.
